Understand the official loop
Frostrain 2 asks the Conductor to acquire, place, and upgrade carriages that generate Happiness. The train travels between landmarks while events and decisions change resources, passengers, and the shape of the run.
The interface exposes active synergies and their next thresholds. Use those thresholds as the first filter for new carriages instead of selecting only the highest visible rarity.
A repeatable first-run routine
- Pause when a new carriage or artifact appears and read its complete effect and downside.
- Check which synergies are already active and how many pieces the next useful threshold requires.
- Place or upgrade carriages so one primary engine receives most of the limited slots.
- Use event and landmark choices to cover the weakest current resource rather than chasing every bonus.
- Before a difficult section, review passengers, Happiness production, active penalties, and unused hand cards.
- After the run, spend earned Purple Coins on unlocks that make the next experiment easier to evaluate.
Separate engine, support, and survival
A support effect is useful only when the engine has enough space and time to benefit from it. If the train has many partial synergies but no completed engine, stop adding new themes and consolidate.
- Engine: the synergy or carriage interaction producing most of the Happiness.
- Support: effects that supply artifacts, carriages, rerolls, speed, or consistency to the engine.
- Survival: choices that protect passengers or prevent a current penalty from ending the run.
